I remember vividly about mentioning that Elang Laut is going to be one of the hippest dining spots in town, and by time, it’s slowly proving the existence from the number of tenants opening in the area, one of the newest is this steak restaurant called “Meaters” located precisely beside Shiraku Soba.
This particular outlet in Elang Laut is their second outlet, the first one is located in Citra 6, where there they share Matchafuku dessert house, also owned by them. This outlet is definitely bigger with two-stories, somehow more homey and better designed comparing to the first outlet, I honestly like how they keep it simple and not much unimportant details going on around. Anyway, if you want more light for your pictures, then opt to sit at the second floor, period.
Meaters specializes in grilled cuisine, quick scan of the menu and I found how the price was super entertaining to my pocket, steaks here ranges from IDR 65k, pork knuckle for IDR 100k-ish, and ribs for IDR 75k. WTF!
Nachos Supreme – IDR 30k
This was a simple, enjoyable and addicting appetizer. The chips was crunchy, topped with generous and flavorful tomato salsa and mozarella cheese. Something about the tomato salsa that was very tasty and seasoned beautifully with beautiful balance of sweet and salty with a hint of sour, definitely the highlight of the dish.
Chargrilled Chicken – IDR 39k (single side dish)/IDR 59 (double side dishes)
PS: they serve the steaks here with their default signature sauce, but customers are more than welcome to choose their own. There are four of their signature sauces available here: mushroom, barbeque and black pepper, and the signature hot sauce for special for the pork knuckle (my favorite sauce, more on that later). They recommend the sauce for dipping, instead of how you normally pour the sauce all over the steak, but again, you are the customer, your choice it is!
They have six available side-dishes options here: french fries, mashed potato, tasty rice, house salad, pasta salad, and coleslaw. I was genuinely fond of the coleslaw and french fries!
A bloody chicken steak for IDR 39k is VERY CHEAP, if you still think this is expensive, then go kill your own chicken steak. The steak was a tender char-grilled marinated chicken steak served with their signature BBQ sauce, rice, pasta salad (fusilli) and a little greens. To be frank, I quite enjoyed the chicken steak without the company of the BBQ sauce since it’s already marinated before it’s grilled, seasoning of the chicken steak was just spot on.
You can request how you want your steaks here to be cooked: rare, medium rare, medium, or medium well, but please order at least medium!
Prime Rib Eye – IDR 125k
Their Prime Rib Eye came in huge XL portion, char-grilled cooked to perfection resulting this tender fragrant meat.
Wagyu Special – IDR 82k with two side dishes
For me, it’s always about the saying “you get what you paid” when it comes to beef, well you indeed have to pay more for wagyu, but they offer you IDR 82k for a freaking portion of a wagyu steak with two side dishes. That being said, MUST ORDER!
The wagyu steak was very tender and again marinated before being char-grilled, again, I am all good without the sauce. Talk about the advantage of marinated steaks!
Original Baby Back Ribs – IDR 79k (regular) / IDR 140k (full slab with two side dishes)
The baby back ribs came in two serving sizes: regular and full slab, and again, VERY AFFORDABLE. The ribs was altogether generously coated in BBQ sauce, the meat was very tender. I suggest having it right away as ribs are always good when it’s served hot and fresh!
I love the coleslaw salad on the side.
Pork Knuckle – IDR 169k
A must order in Meaters! Chuncky pork knuckle with crunchy skin, loaded tender meat, juicy fats and served with the very yummy homemade hot sauce. The hot sauce had this Balinese Sambal Matah character in it, rich in spices (and spicy) and herbs. The portion is really big and share-able for three!
I would be more than happy to recommend Meaters for you. Good steaks with affordable prices. Had no complaint towards the food I had for lunch, everything was pretty yum!
